No matter what founders and managers say the reality is that 95% of tech jobs are meaningless outside the capitalistic flywheel. You're not making the world a better place. You're moving some bits around and extracting a profit from it. Pleasing a manager or pleasing the capitalistic flywheel doesn't seem much different to me.
