Would it be possible to "dissolve plastic by liquid into other liquid" which would potentially not impact environment that much ?

Better than land field or burning ? Like throwing some sort of eco friendly acid on it ?

Layman question, answer appreciated. Obviously the outcome should be causing less harm to environment.
