The fact that you have a degree and are comfortable with math doesn't refute any of what pkaler said.
I assume pkaler (and probably many others) would claim that you're the exception to the rule.

He never claimed to refute pkaler's argument, he just added his relevant viewpoint. I personally have taught myself plenty of math, although I agree that my college classes have provided a solid context for me to explore many math concepts.
