That hasn't been true on switched networks in probably 20 years or so.

In plural form "Schulden" is exclusively used for debt. The more common term for liability is "Haftung" which also translates to accountability (GmbH for an LLC means Gesellschaft mit beschraenkter Haftung). The singular "Schuld" can also mean guilt, blame or fault. But they are all pretty negative in their connotation.

It's unclear right now. The current stance is that using pi or other coding harnesses eats into extra usage and that is the behavior one sees today. We have added a hint to pi now that warns you when you use an anthropic sub.

Thanks for the great work.

Since I (until Anthropic decided to remove access for subs) used Anthropic models extensively with pi I explored the two caching options and the much higher cost of 1h caches is almost never a good tradeoff.

Since the caching really primarily is something they can be judged at scale from across many users I can only assume that Anthropic looked at their infra load and impact and made a very intentional change.

Author here: ethical concerns are legitimate and they don’t require contact. You’re right that the center is not just skewed because of the arguments I made but also because of other factors such as the availability of money and time.

I’m not disputing that. The argument in the article is a much narrower one: use. It’s that without use, one’s view of how it behaves in practice is second-hand from the people that engage.

If all ones criticism is confine within ethical or monetary concerns then this article does not apply.

That’s very possible! But right now I think the bigger risk is that the center is biased towards people with time and money.

Difficulty only adjusts every 2016 blocks. If the system gets out of whack enough it could slow down to a crawl for an extended period of time.

In practice it’s not much of an issue because bitcoin is not use for commerce but it’s a store of value and it some of the trades are not even on chain.

Armin from Earendil: At the end of the day there is nothing I can demonstrate to you now that we will be doing a good job here. But I want to be able to put back at comments like this in a few years and be able to demonstrate that we made the right calls for everybody involved.

Please do provr me wrong! I closed with the "you don't owe us anything" because I mean it, not to hedge. Even if it goes wrong, I don't think Mario is a bad guy, neither are you!

It has just become impossible to believe this kind of thing unless IMO the post is even more transparent than this. That was my point, if you really do mean the best and want to show that to the world, then even this (while much more transparent than anything with investor involvement) I don't think reaches the bar. So that's something I think that could've been done to demonstrate that this was a good call.

If you can demonstrate a few years from now that my disappointment was unwarranted, then everyone's a winner :)

Armin from Earendil here. I don't know about everything, but I find it disappointing that Tolkien has to "live" with being associated with the companies that are currently named after his works. I want to build a company that is based on better values.

They implemented it in a way that it only responds with a valid image and a 200 status code, when the referrer is adobe.com. It's probably somewhat sane given the insanity that is the host files hack.
