i think the entire allure of a 90s website, is they can be created in seconds.

deployment time is a different story now.

so people are being given phone numbers to other people who have been at the receiving end for a while.

i bet these callers hear wonderfully invective reviews of the service they are attempting to contact. perhaps even recomendations to call competing services.

whos lead are you going to take? AI or an accidentally in the loop human, likewise experiencing consequences of fAIl-tech.

this is not unsupported anecdote

yeah these could be extremely non assuming, to the tune of, if a strange garbage can, dumpster, or vending machine, pops up somewhere it could be a threat.

"phone number?"

"i dont have a phone"

"emergency contact?"

"911, no one else is better suited to respond to an emergency?"

Medical establishments are notorious for asking for lots of information they do not need.

For example, every hospital and office I've been to asks for my Social Security Number, yet none have said anything when I leave it blank.

I found myself in front of the hospital representative and they started asking for marital status and religion. I had to shake it off and say, "What? I'm not giving you that information"

(I can see for if you die / etc but still)

thats called collective punishment when persons aside from the offender are also punished for the crimes of that one offender.

a school being a government entity, cant be doing that malarchy.

physical dipswitches or jumpers to control unwanted devices such as cameras, microphones, accelerometers, etc. basically a physical denial of anything unrelated to voice or message functions.

batteries removable by hand no tools or solvents required.

no battery power on plug operation.

modular construction, hardware components that are never going to be used for the benefit of the user, removable with no friction.

already planning on the battery section, cameras and other sensors (including wifi and bluetooth) would always be upgradeable unlike current phones without tools by using fix and switch method all except front camera (included privacy shield) and speakers

"The stated goal is stopping robocalls."

this will do nothing to stop robocalls.

robocalls do not originate from private individual subscriber accounts.

there is some reason why commercial interests, are allowed to have ANI trunking and SS7 access even though it is used to spam spoof and fish, as a mainstay, despite the economic losses resulting fromthese crimes.

lets put it another way..

we cant stop robocalls and coldcall scams unless we have PII of all individual subscribers, and let commercial interests have anonymous unbiased access, as if they are legitimate. anybody wanna buy that?

14 years ago the issue was removed by a mod.

some FUD re: lets encrypt certificates expiration, imploding the server structure of the internet every 6months.

there was a prank way back, that used simple html, css and javascript, to instruct the browser to display IP address, public, and local, popup a stream from the webcam, and place them among a crafted document intended to trigger i.e. troll people.

no data was cast to internet, it was all code executed with local user permissions to access the devices devices and logfiles displayed inline as "proof" that you are standing on stage with naught but your drawers.

people were at times moved into a panic and could be manipulated into making contact with malignant entities. there were casualties.

never underestimate the damage that can be caused by manipulating perceptions of the current situation, its not a joke, its handgun serious.
