Isn't docker on mac os still a large preallocated linux VM that runs the containers inside itself? With this maybe you can separate them.

It was bullshit in 2019 it's bullshit now too.

They just keep threatening governments in hope they get a legal monopoly.

Always thought "butthurt" was childish. Looking at Apple no, it's appropriate.

Oh by the way, who decides if the data stays on device or gets sent to Apple?

I bet it's Apple and not the user.

Lovely. I don't press the play button by mistake much, but if i touch my BT headphones wrong...

I actually had to look at my keyboard as I'd forgotten there even was a play button.

My mac opens Music for func + enter. Sometimes I accidentally have the function button held down as I hit enter. Then whatever app I’m trying to use to type loses its focus to this app I never use.

Yeah but does your Mac have a key combo to launch LinkedIn? Windows +1, Mac 0

You close LinkedIn? ;-)

Is this real?!

yes hold down all the things on the bottom left of your keyboard on windows, then press "L". so that's ctrl+alt+shift+win+L

It's on F8 on my laptop... of course i only remember when i try to do something and end up with Apple Music.

> Social systems are tied ONLY around work which is not healthy.

That is the real problem. I've been working from home for most of my career, but I also have friends (some i made while working, some from other common interests) and we meet at least every weekend.

> to get sleep right

Thought getting sleep right was something that happened before MS decided they need to be able to wake your PC any time they want and not hardware related much.

Macs were known for far longer standby times while sleeping long before MS completely screwed the pooch with their "modern" standby.

Do you have 3d secure or whatever the marketing name is for it this week?

Because it's my impression that either Stripe doesn't support it or it's so hard compared to the rest of their API that no one does it...

> Do you have 3d secure or whatever the marketing name is for it this week?

Stripe takes care of that for cards that are enrolled into 3D Secure (I think it is a Visa thing - the naming) and other kinds of card 2FA validation (Mastercard has their own and so on).

Not in my experience as an european cc user (where non 3d secure is rejected by default) using stripe based (us located mostly) stores.

The ones i've tried to pay on bull rush to charging me with no 2FA and my bank just rejects them.

What AI is (a part of) HN against?

The actual uses?

The "it will get sentient next year and take over the world" bullshit?

These two things are simply unrelated, and my experience with coding assistants (that I do use daily, because they are useful) says whatever OpenAI and Anthropic say in their marketing is 95% lies and hyperbole.

Any technology that is marketed as a religion will get the same reaction from me.

To elaborate, all their documentation would be behind a login that has to be manually approved and they wouldn't talk to you unless you ordered 1 million pieces.
