Sanitizing your hands, that must really haunt you.

Pouring alcohol on your hands every day isn’t really a good habit in the long term.

Roll back the restrictions & add some light advertising & premium junk like reddit's. They bought it for 3 million, they don't have to turn it into a giant for it to be a happy profitable business.

I listened to a podcast about Ramon's story and it certainly had the ring of truth - the guy was an internet marketing specialist who bought the weiner dog ramp business as he sensed it was a good product that was failing to find its potential market. Through the use of highly targeted ads he was able to find potential customers at a cost lower than his profit on the goods - so he turned it into a successful business.

Throwing money at internet marketing without a lot of thought is probably throwing it away for many businesses. Hiring a specialist to do your marketing is often not really any better because the industry is rife with shysters.

So he's actually part of the problem as an internet marketeer. Good riddance.

Taking a shit is a multi step process! The absurdity of the phrase is boggling my mind.

"No revenue was made from this feature either." Isn't that just stating that you were caught before you had the chance to make money from it?

As someone who's donated via PBSC it's a whole lot more than a regular blood donation. Two batteries of tests, the drugs are no joke, and the donation session is more or less a whole day affair - or two days if you're unlucky and they don't harvest enough cells the first day (I was unlucky).

I don't have any regrets doing it - the impost on me was fairly trivial compared to the difference it can make for the recipient, but it's not a thing to be taken lightly.

Future kids aren't your kid though. It is human to be self-interested.

If we can agree the act is in self-interest, and we can agree that society has a role to play in disincentivizing certain self-interested actions that harm the greater good, then we can agree that society should apply those disincentives to ransoms.

Well we either do or we don't, that's 50:50 right?

That'd not how probability works. Just because there are two possible outcomes, doesn't mean that they're equally likely.

On what basis do you think it should not be allowed?

It's basically a money grab for the people who are allowed to participate in the IPO. And those people aren't providing anything of value in return.

As someone who inherited a half broken half-arsed hybrid BIND-Windows environment - now that I've decommissioned the BIND side, our DNS is a lot simpler to operate and understand, and we have far fewer 'glitches'.

This is not a knock on BIND - it is good software, but in the average Wintel environment you're probably just adding unnecessary complexity for marginal gains.
