Helsinki weather is crap. Half a year it is too windy, too wet and too cold to be outside. It rains sleet or snow very often.
Oodi is a great place to do things or just to stop by. No pressure to buy anything. No ads up to your eyeballs.
There are a lot of people just sitting by. Studying. Reading books. Using the provided services. Meeting up people.
The layout is good, especially the second floor that containts most of the services. There are a lot of spaces where you can just _sit_ without obligations.
I am sorry, but I think your ending sentence does not make any sense.
(I am a Finn, I visit Oodi roughly once a week during work trip to the capital).
It is very likely that the time span for an individual is long enough that the change does not matter. Still the future will arrive and most likely sooner than we thought.
I don't really care for other made stuff, but the oldest surviving file I've made is an ASCII art collection, released on 1996-06-15 :) I originally lost it, but thanks to textfiles somebody had archived it.
I really should go through some old 3,5" disks to see if they still work to see if there is anything there.
Network connections. If you don't have network, then you don't work remotely or very poorly. Availability, quality and price depends highly on the region and place.
I have an auto-immune condition that stress makes worse. I try to:
sleep well, exercise moderately, enjoy nature and walk a lot, eat food (not too much, mostly plants), drink decaf and just plain water, re-frame if the situation is stressful, try to increase resilience by positive stress (ie. cold water swimming, exercising, fasting).
I am still learning and I fail all the time. But then again, I don't stress about it :D
Joint account for all expenses. All fixed and most of variable expenses are budgeted. There is some leeway for spending money given that we maintain some buffer on the joint account. I have a ridiculously small amount for spending allocated for myself but then again I don't need much :)
I have a spreadsheet for yearly forecast for income and budgeted expenses. I track income and spending every month using a script I wrote in Python. It takes all our bank and card statements as input, categorizes automatically most of them and then asks me to categorize the rest of expenses. I get CSV as an output that I can import as a sheet in my spreadsheet.
Skydiving. I was 32 few years ago when I started and I found out that not only I get to to do fun stuff in the sky, but I get to hang with great people. I can barely fly on my belly, but it's fun too :)
That's the summer. In winter I read books, fly in a wind tunnel and ski.
Pretty similar setup, 13" Macbook Pro (mid 2010) with SSD and 8GB of RAM. I've had to change battery one time, but other than that it works as expected.
I expect to get couple of more years of usage out of this.
