I have only read the first end of the article but I can't help but think that a project like libriscv[0] would've/could've worked for their game project too because fun fact but the creator of librsicv, the legendary fwsgonzo is also making a game. I highly recommend for people to check out their discord server.

But my main point is that libriscv is one of the fastest libriscv emulators and then something like C/C++/lua could've been used with sandboxing purposes for the purposes of the game then.

Am I missing something? Although, making a programming language is one kind of its own projects and that's really cool as well :-D

but I would also love to hear the author's opinion on libriscv as it feels like it ticks of all the boxes from my understanding

> These things are dangerous. Someone who can take AWS down such as an employee can place a bet.

Imagine if the betting website itself shuts down because AWS is down. (half joking I suppose though)

> These bets aren’t as innocent as they seem because the bettors can often influence or change the outcome.

Overall I agree with your statement that these betting markets also are able to incentivize a lot of insider trading and one can say negative scenarios as this has given them an incentive to capitalize on that.

Wow, This is really bad :-(

I think this is just gonna make viewing internet without a phone significantly harder especially with archive.is and the likes.

Not sure, how relevant this is to the discussion but if it helps, I have made a project[0] which allows to archive archive.is pages on archive.org/wayback machine (this uses singlefile)

Perhaps something like this can be used by community at scale too. Also, I hope that archive.is does something to fix this issue of requiring QR code and hopefully it doesn't become a permanent issue.

Although I agree with the core premise of the article, I wish to state that as we see from the cloudflare/oracle/coinbase and all these new layoffs, that the fact that the seniors aren't safe as well and the job/hiring market is quite unstable for them too to enter.

In fact within cloudflare they previously hired 1111 interns (iirc) and then fired 1100 employees (note that these employees are actually seniors), So it seems to me that seniors are getting laid off too and its effecting the industry in general.

Much of it also seems to be the fact that they are literally spending just about so much money right now that to make the numbers look better in other areas, they are laying off people as much as they can.

(hint: cloudflare spends 1-5 million dollars per month on a rough estimate in AI costs alone and has now fired 20% of its all workforce)

Are there any indexes which index all of these too?

I don't know. All of those sites seem to be small, personal passion projects. I'm sure that more than a few people with personal blogs submit to all of them

This seems very likely to be the case.

Something tangentially cool which is related: https://eu.mouser.com/new/leetronics/leetronics-infinite-noi...

Thanks for changing this dang, I and all of us really appreciate the work that you do towards hackernews :-D

Have a nice day!

Interesting that the submission just before this is about:

Anthropic response to 1-click pwn: Shouldn't have clicked 'ok': https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48057836

This makes me think a bit more about this CVE more too.

Anthropic lately has been really trying to burn any/every good will that they have it seems. Also a bit ironical about how the most dangerous model (Mythos) which can find CVE in other projects wasn't able to find this CVE within the claude-code project itself.

Can somebody give more details about it, Is this because of the recent re-captcha move by google that requires scanning QR code.

I tried to go to an random archive.is link and do the captcha to access the website (atleast for now) but this is a dangerous precedent to set things up on if we require scanning QR codes on our phone to use internet websites.

I might email the webmaster. This is insanity. I know he purposefully puts the ReCaptcha on the higher setting, but at this point I would rather solve this captcha[1]. I don't know what the best solution is for these sites. Cloudflare and ReCaptcha are easily beaten by this browser[2], even on a VPN connection. Other anti detect browsers are not far behind. I wonder when regular users will start using these browsers for regular browsing, it is very convenient.

Cloudflare turnstile is handy for bots which aren't smart but any smart bots are okay with Cloudflare tunstile (which just require a very little bit of js)

I didn't know that a browser could work with google recaptcha though.

Now, the thing which I wish to ask is, has that google recaptcha change of qr code happened? Can you send me any screenshots where an archive link recaptcha is asking you for qr code.

I had thought that this feature of google had time, I didn't know that it was already done. This is quite bad if google has already added it to recaptcha.

Yes I got the recaptcha with a QR code on archive.today. Has only happened once. I did the audio as an alternative. That browser I linked actually beat the recaptcha and any other captcha I tried with no clicking needed–I was really surprised.

I'll send a screenshot if it happens again.

Firstly, kind sir, layoffs are hard for each and everyone of us and I wish you best as you navigate it. I know you will get many wishes and good lucks though but consider my wishes to be one of many to help ya out.

The who wants to be hired page is still open within Hackernews: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47975570

I recommend if you can share your CV/send a message there, I will try to also keep an eye on it if you do share your CV/resume there and I would love to upvote your comment there to shower some more exposure/love from the community as you are member of hackernews. You are also part of the hackernews community and its the least that I/we can do.
